Guess Who-o-o's Leader TrainingDesign going to camp in '691 - To: Council Presidents and Executive Directors Date: November, 1968 From: Training Unit Subject: USE OF THE LEADER TRAINING DESIGN IN DAY AND ESTABIJ:SHED CAMPS Since the launching of the Leader Training Design, council camp directors have expressed an interest in using the underlying concepts of this de-sign in the training of camp staff members. Some councils have tailored the Taster and learning activities to meet the specific needs of individuals and/or camps. Early in 1968, members of the camping and training staffs prepared materials that were then tested in selected camps that summer. The Leader Training Design materials were originally written to leaders and trainers of leaders regardless of the setting in which leaders work with girls. basic beliefs about how adults learn are as pertinent to training camp staff as they are to year-round troop leaders. However, if learning is to be a continuous process, the camp director/trainer of ne-cessity thinks beyond the learning that may occur in the few days when the staff is assembled before the opening of camp. The camp staff to the Leader's fnr Learning and the Guide to Helping Leaders--Design for Learning include means and methods that make it possible for thousands of camp staff members and, in turn, girls to experience the kind of purposeful learning which this design encompasses. Councils may any or all of the materials. Additional resources the council may need to order are suggested on the last two pages of the Camp Statf Supplement to the Guide to Helping Leaders.
