The Indiana Historical Print Collection contains materials about the state’s history from the Indiana State Library’s vast collection. They provide insight into Indiana’s past through its people, communities, cultures, businesses, and industry from its beginnings as part of the Northwest Territory to present day.  Here are some examples of what that you will find in this collection:

 

County and local histories - Often published during the late 19th century and early 20th century, these books offer with detailed coverage of local history, geology, geography, photographs or illustrations, lists of wars veterans, members of the local government, medical, and legal professions, businesses, manufacturing and industry, churches, schools, celebrations, fire and police departments, clubs, family histories, and much more.

 

Pamphlets - About Indiana local history, minerals spas, travel, and other topics.

 

Periodicals - Many of these periodicals have local information, photographs, topical articles, information about events, people, and advertisements for products and businesses. Examples include Forward! The Magazine for Indianapolis, This Week in Indianapolis, and The Hoosier Minutemen.
