COMPANY PICNIC AT MARION ENJOYED BY EMPLOYEES A beautiful sunny day and the many wonderful prizes contributed a great deal in drawing one of the largest crowds to Matters Park in Marion to attend the General Tire Picnic. The concession committee, with George Bosch and Leo Walters as chairmen, did a tremendous job in passing out many hundred bottles of pop, crackerjack and ice cream bars. Mr. W. C. Mills planned and conducted the many contests in which 683 people participated. Mr. Mills said "Never have I seen so many people take part in the activities of a company picnic as I have here today. The judges really had to be on their toes to pick the right winners." The ladies in charge of registration were very busy getting all employees registered and giving swimming tickets to more than 300 people. The General Tire baseball team sufferEd from picnic-itis and dropped the game 4 to 1 to Muncie's Warner Gear. The gate prize drawing was held at 3:00 P. M. with Doris Evelyn Bridenthal, daughter of John Bridenthal, Dept. 212, drawing the tickets. Winners were: Floyd Closser, Dept. 221, television set; Woodrow Drook, Sales dept., $25.00; Howard Tomlinson, Dept. 272, $15.00; Doris Lake, Dept. 224, $10.03; Maurice Shroyer, Dept. 205, $10.00; Urban Ulshafer Dept. 272, $10.00; Catherine Scoffer, Dept. 225, $10 00; John Jewell, Dept. 215, $10.00; and Mark Zolman, Dept. 265, Lab., $10.00 Prize winners for girls in the various age groups were: 4-5-6: Bonnie Bilodeau, Susie Schultz, Alice K. Smith, Christi Sele. 7-8-9: Velma Sue Allen, Betty Jean Amann, Iva Sloan, Brenda Dill. 10-11-12: Alice Murphy, Sandra Bean Becky Dyer, Deanna Ross. 13-14-15: Nancy Schultz. Julia Parks, Mary Cortney, Karen Dill. 16-17-18: Bernita Neal, Gloria Hoffman Beverly Wolfrum, Judy Ross. 19-20-21: Lois Ogan, Shirley Osborn, Anna Summers, BarFara Day. 22 to 30: Geraldine Burton, Betty Guenin, Maxine Kamerer, Norma Kitt. 31 to 40: Nettie McCammack, Mary Hoover, Lorene Denney, Garnet Reifert.
